Service
Web Accessibility (WCAG)
We audit and improve websites and online stores based on WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility requirements, for businesses that fall under the new legislation or want to comply with it.
Legal framework
European legislation on the accessibility of products and services is based on Directive (EU) 2019/882, known as the European Accessibility Act. In Greece, it was incorporated by Law 4994/2024 and the relevant obligations apply from 28 June 2025.
The technical benchmark is WCAG 2.1 level AA, through the European standard EN 301 549. The scope includes, among others, online stores, online banking, transport ticketing services, e-books, as well as specific self-service terminals and machines.
An exception is provided for very small enterprises when they employ fewer than 10 employees and have an annual turnover or balance sheet total of less than 2 million euros.
What do we check?
The test is not limited to the appearance of the page. We look at elements that determine whether a user can actually understand and navigate the website.
- keyboard-only navigation,
- order and visibility of focus,
- accessible names in links and controls,
- heading structure,
- labels and error messages in forms,
- colour contrast,
- image alt text,
- problems identified with automated tools.
How is the check done?
Automated tools are useful, but they only detect a fraction of accessibility issues. A result without obvious technical errors does not mean that the website is actually accessible.
For this, we combine automated checks with manual examination of the interface: actual usage paths, forms, menus, dialog boxes, and the behaviour of the page without a mouse.
Findings are recorded so that it is clear what needs to change and what problem each intervention addresses.
What we don't promise
We do not provide «WCAG certification» and do not promise that a website will be «100% accessible» after a review. Accessibility is a process of review, correction, and review, especially when content and functionality change.
A single check is not enough when new pages, plugins, forms, or products are added after delivery without the same rules.
If a business does not fall under legal obligations, this does not mean that a complete technical rebuild is needed. The scope of work should correspond to the actual condition and use of the website.
